Prior to the construction of Het Theemswegtracé (the new freight railway line in the Europoort area), a large concrete windbreak along the Neckarhaven impeded the project.
However, the windbreak has since been demolished and replaced with a new one, engineered by PAXARO on behalf of the Port of Rotterdam Authority.
The new windbreak was completed in 2018.
